Be the Change You Want to See in Others


According to Pratham's ASER 2014 report, 

At the all India level, the number of children in rural schools in Class II who could even recognise letters or the alphabets increased from 13.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2014. In the last year of the primary education in Class V, almost 20% of the children could only read letters, and are not literate even at this level; 14% could read words but not sentences; and 19% could read sentences but not longer texts."

Every new term, in schools that all of us who read this went to, meant new notebooks, new pencils and new crayons. 
Every new term, at nearly every other school around the corner, does not mean new notebooks or pencils or crayons.

This can change, and you can be the change.
At The Ashoka Tree, we hope to be the change we expect in everyone else.
A small contribution of basic art kits for pre-schoolers is all that it takes to make a change.

While it’s easy to fuss about having to be admitted, a visit to the Government-run General Hospital in your city is bound to change your mind and keep you grateful for the kind of service you can otherwise afford when you get ill. Angels on Earth #ChennaiRains

Chennai’s floods have taught us a lot.   While it’s reminded us, in developing countries especially, that there’s a reason cities are planned a certain way and that nature or climate change is not something you can ever take lightly, its also taught us a whole load of other lessons.
